Samsung to Unveil New Exynos SoC on January 12 Next Year, Expected to Be Exynos 2100

Exynos 2100 may be an octa-core SoC with one core clocked at up to 2.91GHz

Samsung has announced that it will be unveiling a new Exynos SoC on January 12. While the post, which comes with a short teaser video, does not reveal the name of the mobile processor, it is expected to be the upcoming Exynos 2100. The new SoC will be launching two days ahead of the expected launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. While a lot about the Exynos 2100 SoC is still unclear, it was spotted in a Geekbench listing recently with a high-end Samsung phone believed to be the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The teaser has been shared by Samsung on Twitter with the words “Exynos is back”. The short video does not reveal anything about the upcoming SoC except that it will be unveiled on January 12. It is believed that this will be the Exynos 2100 SoC, which has been a part of several leaks since early November. While Samsung has not shared any details about the upcoming SoC, the Exynos 2100 could be based on 5nm architecture, just like the new Exynos 1080 SoC.

Exynos 2100 is expected to feature a 1+3+4 core configuration with a high performance ARM's X1 core clocked at up to 2.91GHz, three Cortex-A78s cores at 2.81GHz, and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.21GHz. The GPU on the chip is expected to be Mali-G78. It is expected that Samsung will release Galaxy S21 series phones with both Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Receiving Android 11-Based One UI 3.0 Update: Report

Earlier this week, the Galaxy S21 Ultra reportedly appeared in a Geekbench listing with the Exynos 2100 SoC. This variant had model number SM-G998B and was listed with 12GB RAM and Android 11. It scored 1,006 in single-core and 3,059 in multi-core benchmarks.

The launch of the new mobile processor is scheduled for January 12, which is just two days before the expected launch of the Galaxy S21 series on January 14. As of now, Samsung has not shared any information about the Galaxy S21 series, but a number of leaks have hinted at the design, specifications, colours, and pricing of its expected models.

Most recently, the European pricing for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra has allegedly leaked. The Galaxy S21 could start at EUR 849 (roughly Rs. 76,000), the Galaxy S21+ at EUR 1,049 (roughly Rs. 94,500), and the Galaxy S21 Ultra at EUR 1,399 (roughly Rs. 1.26 lakh).

Microsoft unveils Windows 11, a more polished OS

A messy (but surprisingly stable) leak probably wasn't the way Microsoft wanted to introduce the world to Windows 11, but that didn't stop the company from launching its new OS today with a ton of fanfare. After all, a new version of Windows doesn't come around very often, right? So here's what's up with Windows 11: Like we saw in the leaked build, it's clearly evolving everything we saw in Windows 10. But there's an extra sheen of polish that's nice to see after spending six years with the last version. The new OS will be a free upgrade for Windows 10 users and start rolling out "this holiday". And yes, the centered task bar we saw last week is still, well, front and center. For many users, I'd imagine it'd be a somewhat disconcerting change to break a tradition that started with Windows 95. But after playing with the beta build for over a week now, it's a change I've come to appreciate. (You can also push the taskbar back to ...

OnePlus deepens integration with Oppo

OnePlus has officially extended its integration with Oppo in order to streamline its operations and make “better products”, according to CEO Pete Lau. Earlier this year, OnePlus and Oppo merged their respective R&D teams months after Pete was appointed the Senior Vice President and Chief Product Experience Officer of the investor group OPLUS which is an investor group that looks after OnePlus, Oppo and Realme.“With this deeper integration with OPPO, we will have more resources at hand to create even better products for you. It will also allow us to be more efficient, for example, bringing faster and more stable software updates for OnePlus users,” Pete wrote in a post on OnePlus forums.    OnePlus has often found itself marred in controversy over its dependence on Oppo since both of them are managed by the same conglomerate, BBK Electronics. So, it is an interesting development now that OnePlus is officially merging with Oppo.   Even though OnePlus will be merging it...
